Balon intragastrico

The intragastric balloon involves placing a balloon inside the stomach by endoscopy. When the balloon is inflated, 60-70% of the volume inside the stomach is filled. This is a restrictive type process, which is recommended for patients who are overweight or slightly obese, as well as patients where surgery is contraindicated.

No surgery is needed, since the balloon is placed and removed by endoscopic means, namely through the mouth. The patient is sedated and there won´t be any pain or discomfort during the procedure. This is temporary and the balloon must be removed within six months.
